We've tried to do all we can to make your vacation, here, as simple and convenient as possible. As far as we can tell, everything that's needed for your stay is provided except your meals. The cabin is ready to move into with towels, linens, soaps, etc. all in place. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, dinnerware, silverware and appliances. There is charcoal for the grill if you decide to cook out and firewood for the fire ring for those peaceful end of day get togethers.

Sleeping arrangements: There are two private bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a full size (double). There are two fold out couches and another full size matress and springs in the upstairs common area. There is a child's bed in one of the private bedrooms.

There is no landline telephone, but most national cell phone carriers have service here.  If you need to leave an emergency number with friends or family, feel free to leave our contact number, as we're right next door.

Television: We don't have broadcast television, but we maintain an extensive video library for your free use. We have lots of family friendly, childrens, action/adventure, history, educational and current release dvd's.  There is a bookcase filled with a broad cross section of reading material in the cabin's living room. There's usually coloring books and crayons if you're bringing young ones.

Passing the time: There are board games and horseshoes available for your enjoyment. There is a picnic area with charcoal grill, fire ring and adirondack chairs, as well as two picnic tables.
Local conveniences:  There are a couple of country stores within a few minutes drive of the cabin. They feature convenience food items and delicous deli and grill specialties. Pleasant's Store offers the best cheese steaks, in our opinion, south of Philadelphia. If you want to visit a major supermarket chain, there are several within a 20 minute drive, in Mountain City. There is a Dollar General store 5 minutes away for most household requirements.

Parking: If you're planning on bringing a boat or camper for your trip, there's plenty of room to park and maneuver on the cabin property.

Pets: Mature, well trained pets are always welcome, we have over 50 of our own! There is an outdoor kennel if you need to leave your pet temporarily, while you're gone. Dogs can't be allowed to run unsupervised due to the farm animals and poultry we maintain. We do ask you to be responsible for any damage caused by pets.

Smoking: Smoking is allowed in any of the outdoor areas

Fishing:  The cabin is located on Doe Creek. There is excellent trout fishing in the creek for both flycasting and bait casting. Approximately a mile away is Watauga Lake with good bass, crappie, and blue gill fishing. Boat rentals are available about 20 minutes away.
